Merlot in Madrid
Merlot in Madrid was designed for a family who treasures European roots and the tradition of living together across generations. With multi-generations all under one roof, the home needed to reflect both intimacy and openness—celebrating shared spaces while preserving quiet retreats.
Inspired by Spain’s warmth and France’s timeless refinement, the home layers cultural richness with modern comfort, offering both shared gathering spaces and serene retreats.
The interiors weave together European sensibilities with a modern Florida lifestyle. In the lounge, deep merlot velvet chairs and an antiqued mirrored bar set the tone for rich conversation, reminiscent of evenings in Madrid. The lounge is like a moody jewel box wrapped in rich espresso walls and a vintage European tapestry give the space the atmosphere of an intimate Madrid lounge, perfect for late-night conversation and gatherings.
The kitchen and dining spaces are airy and convivial, with an oak banquette, creamy cabinetry, and artisan flecked glass lighting evoking both French countryside charm and contemporary ease.
The living areas balance elegance and comfort—layered textiles, warm wood tones, and subtle European-inspired details offer a refined yet approachable backdrop for family life. The Living Room with layered textiles, neutral upholstery, and rich oak beams, balances approachability with quiet luxury. A plaster fireplace anchors the space, while romantic lighting and symmetry nod to tradition. It’s a room meant for evenings by the fire, both relaxed and refined.
Bedrooms carry personal expression: soft lime wash and textured walls, heirloom-inspired rugs, and floral embroideries nod to heritage while feeling timeless. The upstairs primary suite is serene retreat designed with soft lime wash walls, oak beams, and a striking four-poster bed. Linen bedding in earthy neutrals is layered with subtle stripes and textures, creating a balance of rustic European charm and understated elegance.
The lanai carries the European lifestyle outdoors. Woven textures, light stone pavers, and a scalloped market umbrella recall Mediterranean terraces. Spaces are designed for family meals al fresco, slow mornings, and long evenings that feel like summer in Spain.
In a little girls bedroom…
Gentle rose tones and playful details—Peter Rabbit, wicker baskets, and heirloom toys—create a whimsical but refined space. It balances youthful sweetness with European storytelling, a room that feels both timeless and imaginative.
Painted in a deep, wine-inspired hue, the study is enveloped in drama. A Custom built-in Murphy bed displays collected objects and books, while a leather chair and green writing desk bring gravitas.
Tucked at the top of the staircase, this loft-style living space offers a warm retreat for family connection and quiet evenings. The design draws from Old World European influences — most notably through the handwoven tapestry depicting pastoral life, reminiscent of 18th-century French countryside scenes.
A tongue-and-groove oak ceiling brings architectural warmth and dimension, echoing the craftsmanship found in European villas. Below, a plush chocolate velvet sectional invites long conversations and movie nights, while aged brass accents add subtle gleam and depth.
Merlot in Madrid is more than a residence—it’s a celebration of family, heritage, and the European way of living: together, beautifully.
