We are so thankful to live in Siesta Key. We never thought in a million years we would be able to live a 5-minute bike ride to Siesta Key Beach. We live right near the village and the proximity is a dream. Our Portuguese blood runs strong because we love the heat. Summertime is our absolute favorite. It’s all about true beach living in the summer. Bike rides to the beach or ice cream and just living like tourists. We pick ripe mangoes from our yard, go for evening walks, and spend all our time on the island. We are near everything but just far enough away inland to be among the “locals”.
Our beach house is set back and quite hidden; we love the privacy and fenced-in yard.
Everything about summer is magical. Here is how we might spend a weekend in this dream we call home.
Saturday Morning
We typically hang out at home in the early morning and eat breakfast separately since we all get up a different times. We love being on the island on the weekends.
Late Morning; This family loves donuts. Typically every weekend Daddy takes Savannah to Five O Donuts. They always bring me home a couple of their gluten-free donuts.

Carlin will run errands with Savannah like going to the car wash and getting any project materials we might have for the week. I usually answer work emails and work on our Amazon storefront. I sneak in a morning workout and get ready for the day. I light a candle and sit at my desk and I do enjoy the quiet.
Afternoon
Summers are all about spending as much time outdoors as possible. We love spending afternoons in Longboat Key.
Lunch at our favorite spot is Whitney's
The vibe and atmosphere is amazing. The food is excellent. I love to order their froz,
After lunch we might go to the beach right across the street or do some shopping and enjoying our favorite locals shops.
Here are a couple of local shops we love to frequent:
Driftwood Beach
Really pretty coastal-inspired gifts, decor, books, and linens. Nothing tacky here. Classic coastal vibes
The Fox Mercantile
This place is just cool. Super cute gifts for kids and adults. Great assortment of pottery and ceramics. They even gave a coffee shop. Their courtyard is incredible. They host local events and parties there as well. A gem!
Evening
On Saturday evenings we try to squeeze in a date night once a month. Michael's on East is one of our favorite local restaurants for a date night. Their steak is incredible!
Sunday
Every Sunday morning
There is a farmers market every in Siesta key village. They often have fresh flowers, siesta key rum (my personal fave) and produce. They sometimes have amazing clothing and jewelers vendors too. We walk there and usually grab a coffee at project coffee on the key.

Sunday summer afternoons are spent at the beach. We grab lunch at Morton’s market or the local bean house. We bike ride to the beach.
After the beach we go to Mo Jo’s Risen for a late afternoon latte or iced tea. Savannah always picks something sweet. She loves the brownies and cookies there.
After each of us has our showers (we love our outdoor shower especially in the summer)
It’s time to prepare dinner
I usually cook on Sundays. One of our favorite summer recipes for dinner is elevated taco night with fresh mango salsa and chips.
I make it with braised beef and homemade guacamole and salsa. I use fresh mangos from our yard to make mango salsa and juices. I love this recipe because each taco can be modified for each member of your family. Savannah likes her with lettuce only. While daddy likes all the topping plus jalapeños for some added heat. You can leave the braised beef cooking in the crock pot while you head out for the day. It’s such an easy recipe.

After dinner on a Sunday we usually do a movie night. We might make homemade s’mores on the outdoor grill or fire. Then it’s all about trying to get this little girl to bed and ready for a week of camp. Daddy will go to gym in the evening while I watch The Kardashians on Hulu and it’s usually a 10:30 bedtime or earlier for us old people.
By Sunday night we are exhausted from all the sun, fun and keeping up with Savannah; but that a successful weekend to us.
